UPDATES
By Bill Swan, Director, Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife

  1. 2004 licenses have now been distributed to all license agents. If you have not
received your 2004 licenses, please give us a call. The 2004 licenses are almost
identical to the 2003 licenses with the exception that we have added the Expanded
Archery Antlered and Expanded Archery Antlerless authorities to the license. You
should also note that, in general, there has been a $3 increase on all authorities for
    the 2004 license year.
  2. We are in the process of getting your 2004 boat registration materials sent out to you.
We expect that you will have these materials in hand by December 15th. You should
note that all boat registration fees have also increased by $3 for the 2004 registration
year. The pre-prints will NOT include most of the boats registered for the first time
last year. We are working hard on those right now and we will send you an
incremental boat pre-print run with these boats in it in February.
  3. We have completed work on all snowmobiles registered for the first time last year
are in the process of getting an incremental snowmobile pre-print run done
for you. As you are aware, your initial snowmobile pre-print run did not include
most of the snowmobiles registered for the first time last year.
  4. Just to be clear, the fees for both snowmobiles and ATV registrations were raised
effective July 1, 2003. They will NOT be raised again on January 1, 2004.
  5. Applications for the 2004 Spring Turkey lottery have now been sent to all license
agents ( as well as every person who applied last year). If you have not received
these applications, please give us a call. In addition, customers can apply for this
lottery on-line. There is a link to the on-line application from our web-site.
  6. Applications for the 2004 Moose lottery will be distributed to all license agents in
early January. In addition, an application will be sent to all customers who applied
last year. Lastly, customers will be able to apply on-line starting in mid-December.
There will be a link to the on-line application from our web-site.
  7. Training for the first Electronic MOSES Sales Agents is scheduled for this month
(December, 2003). These agents will be selling licenses electronically next month
    (January, 2004).
  8. We will be conducting training classes on a regular basis throughout 2004 to bring
on as many electronic agents as possible, as quickly as possible. However, we will
not sacrifice the quality of the training or support we will provide.
  9. I know that the past couple of years have been very frustrating for all of you
from a licensing and registration perspective. We are working very hard to improve
our service to our customers while we complete the implementation of the MOSES
system. We believe that we are making slow but steady progress and will continue
to do so over this next year. We are on target to complete the development and
implementation of this new system in June. The bottom line is, we are getting near
the end of a painful transition period and we appreciate your continued patience
with us through these challenging times.
