Posted 12/22/04: Thank you for all the input on my software information request, it was very helpful. We have a better feel of the direction we want to go. Now I have another request, do any of you have a septic ordinance you'd be willing to share. I have gone on the MMA website and found information on a non-storm water discharge ordinance but not really anything pertaining to septic systems as such. We have two issues we would like to address. 1. Requiring that all septic systems installers be state certified, and 2. a way to assess fines for septic systems installed without the proper permits, inspections and a soil design. Responses: You might check with Division of Health Engineering. I suspect the latter is in state statute. The former may not be enforceable. That’s a plumbing inspection issue, and by statute you’re community is supposed to employ one. (Stu Marckoon, Lamoine)
