Our town has been growing rapidly in the past few years, and as a result, we have been copying and selling many ordinance, zoning and planning type books. Our price is $20 per book, but considering the time, effort and materials , we are thinking of raising our price. I was wondering what other towns charge for their books.

Responses:

I think it would depend on the number of pages in each book. I wouldn't recommend selling the books for more than you would charge per page for regular photocopying. For example, if the books are 100 pages and you normaly charge .25 cents per page then $25.00 would be acceptable. If the books are 50 pages, you probably are getting a fair price. (Ryan Pelletier, St. Agatha)

Here in Manchester, we charge $8.00 per book. (Darlene Beaulieau, Manchester)

We charge $10 a book. (Laurie Boucher, Richmond)

The Town of Searsmont gets 25 cents per printed page. If you consider all the costs involved, this just about covers them. This is a service to our residents so we do not try to make a profit. (Alice Pearse, Searsmont)

Our Zoning Ordinance is quite large and we charge $20.00 we also have it on disk. The Code Enforcement
Officer sells those disks for 50 cents each. We also have a web site and the entire ordinance is on that. (Helen Archer, Eastport)

in Veazie we charge $35 with Maps. (Bill Reed, Veazie)
