Posted by Marilyn Curtis, Dexter, June 12, 2009:Right now, we do not have an offsite backup of our computer system.  I would like to know how other municipalities address this situation.  Also, I am told that the backup we do nightly on our Trio software only contains the data not the pictures or sketches in our real estate program.  Has anyone else found that to be true and how did you remedy it?  Finally, if you pay for offsite backup how much does it cost?  Thanks for your responses.

Responses:The City of Brewer used to back up to a tape and when it did, the Friday tape was sent to the Technology Dept located in another building for storage.  We now operate on virtual servers and backup to an external hard drive located in the same room as the server.  Once a week, however, this backup is sent via our network to an external hard drive located in another building.  (Karen Fussell, Brewer)
