Posted by Lisa Wallace, Phippsburg, March 14, 2008: We are looking to tighten the strings on how to get a transfer station sticker and was wondering what other towns do/policies are to get one. My direct email is tax@phippsburg.com
Responses: Lamoine does not charge for a transfer station sticker, but we need some proof of residency, and we record name, physical address and license plate number. We have a number of summer rentals, and laminate a card that the renters can use and keep at the physical address for the landlord to give access to the transfer station. Tried to require proof of excise tax payment, but that got difficult to administer when someone would move to town and have their vehicle registered for many more months in their previous community. Hello to all from a vacation time in Florida. Milford does have a transfer station sticker policy - with fees. not perfected, we'll be making some changes. But I'll email it to you when I get back to the office. It is a combination of the general fees & costs policy and the bulky waste policy. (Barbara Cox, Milford)
Hancock does not charge for a transfer station card, but we require a physical address that we record on the card, underneath the residents signature. We record the name and date of the transaction. We do let the person know that our transfer attendant does have the authority to ask for their drivers license to prove they are the card holder. Each person is required to have a card, they are not allowed to share. (Stacey Clement, Hancock)
