Posted by Scott Gesuldi, Rangeley, November 2, 2007 - What are other town/cities opinion on this bill?  It is being discussed at our next selectmen's meeting.  If I understand it correctly it allows for one town to collect the excise and it could require a different town to refund the overage (if the situation calls for an excise tax credit).  Thank you for your input.

Responses: Your understanding is correct.  We have adopted a policy not to refund any excise tax overage due to transfer of registrations.  I have attached a copy of our policy, in case you want to use it as reference. (Barbara Cox, Milford) (Go to Milford's Policy)

Same with the Town of Washington. Upon suggestion of the Treaser and Town Clerk, they decided to not refund excise taxes.
(Cyndie Bourgeois, Washington)

Lyman has also decided not to issue refunds. (Vicki Swenson, Lynam)

Stoneham won't be issuing refunds.  (Midge Silvio, Stoneham)

The Town of Pembroke will not be issusing refunds. (Janice Scanlon, Pembroke)

The Town of Embden decided not to offer excise tax refunds, we felt it would be to much paperwork to do so. (Amanda Morrill, Embden)
