Posted by Laurie Boucher, Richmond, May 17, 2007:Can anyone give me a sample of a warrant article for a TIF?  We shelter 10,000,000 so the amount depends on the mil-rate but in the past they have had $$ amounts listed within the article.

Responses: In Bridgton we do not list annually the sheltered amount within any warrant article.  I am curious as to how you came to this process. (Mitch Berkowitz, Bridgton)

The prior Town Manager did the warrant and he listed the $$ amount in the warrant last year.  In 2004 and 2005 no dollar amount was listed, just an article that voted to raise and appropriate the funds that are based on the annual mil rate. I think 2004 & 2005 with not listing the $$ amount is better, but I'm not sure if the article needs to be listed in the warrant at all. (Laurie Boucher)

We do not list the amount each year. I consider the TIF payment like an assessment such as from a school district or County Tax.  I do include the amount in my budget. (Ryan Pelletier, St. Agatha)
