Have any towns besides Mariaville been denied an expected Tree Growth refund from the State based on some seemingly bizarre calculations.  Their new rationale is in part that because the land is classified as Tree Growth there are no homes and thus no students on this land so the town saves lots of money on school costs!!! Any feedback would be appreciated including whether your town has determined if this method is in fact correct.

Responses:

No the Town of Solon has never been denied but the amount we receive is not anywhere near what we lose by the TG valuation.  In 2006 we lost $137,909 in tax revenue and received $32,009 in state reimbursement.  They say they figure it based on lower county and school taxes because of the lower town valuation.  (Unsigned)

Call John in the Town of Mexico I think I just heard this the other day from him. (Derik Goodine, Naples)
