Posted April 12, 2006 by John Myers, Buxton: I've been asked to request your response to the following LD1 questions if your Municipality has a Annual Town Meeting and needs to vote on exceeding the LD1 spending cap. 1.  When you need to go over the LD1 spending cap are you having the written ballot vote in the voting booth or on the floor of the meeting? 2.  If the written ballot is being done during your open town meeting, is the warrant article at the beginning or at the end of the warrant 3.  Or are you waiting to call a special meeting after the Annual Meeting has been concluded? Please respond directly to me at tclerkbuxton@sacoriver.net .   Any help would be appreciated. (John Myers, Buxton)

Responses: 1.  When you need to go over the LD1 spending cap are you having the written ballot vote in the voting booth or on the floor of the meeting? it will be on the floor, how else to explain the need for going over the limit than with good ole yankee debate
2.  If the written ballot is being done during your open town meeting, is the warrant article at the beginning or at the end of the warrant.  It would have to be at the end since I wouldnt know if we were over thelimit until the end of the meeting.  In fact I have used notes in other warrant articles to say if you vote for this total amount it is going to drive us over the limit, of course then the delemma is, was it that article or was it the amount in the roads budget, or the library etc.
<> 3.  Or are you waiting to call a special meeting after the Annual Meeting has been concluded?  Never call a "Secret Meeting" to discuss expenses that would put you over the limit.  That would look like you were trying to sneak something through to the conspiracy theorists out there.
