Posted by Gwen May, Swan's Island, April 6, 2006:I have 2 questions.................. 1.  What do other towns do with vehicles that are left in the yard not registered (I'm talking about more than a year or so)?  Is it permissible to charge personal property tax and if so, do you charge a personal property tax and how much do you charge? (Guess that already covered my 2 question limit but there is more....) 2.  I am looking for property tax card ideas.  I would love to have samples to review for the selectmen/assessors.  If a card can't be sent, what are the things that are pertinent in taxing a house and lot?  At the present, we get valued according to a certain house on a corner.......  all others are higher or lower, according to the eye of the selectman viewing it!  They never have measurements of houses or know if there is a pool, tennis court, porch, etc. Thank you in advance for answering.  I appreciate it.  Have a good weekend.

Responses: Here is what we do in Lincoln:  We do not tax vehicles because the Assessor and I do not agree on that philosophy.  I can fax you a copy of our tax card that shows what it looks like and how it is filled out by our Assessor. (Gilberte Mayo, Lincoln)
