For Tax Collectors and Treasurers who assist Selectmen, Town Councils, and City Councils, the following language might prove helpful when those elected bodies choose to meet in executive session. LD 1957 passed in the Spring of 2004 requires that elected officials state the precise nature of business, and the citation of Maine Law.

| Negotiations for public Property | "I move that the board enter executive session to discuss a matter related to acquisition of public property pursuant to 1 MRSA, Section 405, subsection 6(C)" |
| Labor Contracts | "I move that the board enter executive session to discuss a labor negotiations matter pursuant to 1 MRSA, Section 405, subsection 6(D)" |
