BMV Paper Report Spreadsheet |
|
General Instructions
This spreadsheet pretty much mirrors the paper sheets that are submitted either weekly or bi-weekly to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. It was developed by the BMV and has been modified with some automatic calculations. It's advantage is that it quickly calculates the payments and the sticker count, and is much faster to fill in than handwriting. Here are some things to keep in mind when using the spreadsheet:
Note- July 2008 - The spreadsheet for the cash report is now 2-pages long. You only need to submit one copy to BMV.
Updated - August 1, 2008 - The font for the sticker report has been made larger at the request of the BMV. The sales tax line on page 2 of the cash report has been formatted to allow for computer entry into individual cells, and the formatting for the cash has been changed so that it is not rounded off. The formatting for the February Doubles has been fixed to be consistent.
Updated September 2, 2008 - The formula for passenger plates now reflects the $35 rate. The formula for initial plates now reflects the $25 rate. As of 9/9/08 the formatting for the municipality name and the date of the report has been fixed so that it's aligned with the sheet.
General
- We would strongly suggest that you save the original download as a read only file.
- Each report should have its own file name - we suggest using the month, date, year such as "BMV030107.xls"
- You will have to put in your own town, registration level and geo code on both worksheets (cash report and stickers)
- Please enter the report date, the to & from dates. You can adjust this on your own to automatically fill in the report date later if you like.
- After each report, copy the sticker count column and paste it into your read only file, and save that as your next report.
Cash Report
- In the notes section, there are columns for trailer and commercial vehicles. The bold rows have variable rates that should also be noted in the notes column. The first column is the price, the 2nd column is the amount at that price, and the 3rd column multiplies the 2. The commercial and trailer sections automatically fill in on the 1st page of the report.
- The total count should match your sticker count. There will be the odd transaction that may throw that off. Play with it if you need to.
Sticker Report
- The only thing you need to enter will be any stickers received, any stickers returned, and the final sticker count when you do your report. The stickers used column will automatically calculate. You may want to write in the "To" and "From" dates by hand, though it's now easier to fill it in electronically.
- When the years change, you'll need to add a line for the new year while the transition is in place. We'll try to keep this up to date.
Good luck. If you run into any problems, please let me know rabbitrunsbs@roadrunner.com
